Mission Statement
Film Focus aims to enable young people to communicate, learn about teamwork , boost confidence and raise self esteem.
Short film making is a wonderful way of achieving these objectives.
What We Do
We offer youth based workshops in the art of making short films. During sessions we will teach the basics of short film making using DV cameras. Whether your group wants to be in front or behind the camera we aim to ensure all participants are involved with the project and know they are an integral part of the process. We encourage individuals to take on professional roles and work as a team to complete a short DVD production of their choosing. Whether they choose to make a drama, documentary, comedy, music video or a magazine type program, we work together as a team to brainstorm potential ideas. We also work with schools to work on issue based projects, which can provide useful resource material. Participants will get the chance to learn about whatever aspect they are interested in, ie - Directing, Acting, Make-up and Wardrobe, Camera, Sound. We try to rotate positions if more than one person is keen on the same area. This is a very "hands on" course, but their will be an aspect of brainstorming to plan the project.
Editing
Although we do show basic editing in the fist week, the bulk of editing is done by Film Focus out with group time. For those wanting to learn about editing, this can be arranged additionally. We teach basic editing using Final Cut Pro, which is professional editing software. Please contact us about editing training if you would like information about these tutorial sessions.

Approx Costs
Our costs are worked from an hourly rate of $50 per hour plus travel.
Our basic Youth Packages start from:
Workshops - 6 x 2 hour sessions = $1,699.00
Workshops - 8 x 2 hour sessions = $1,899.00
(includes a DVD copy of project for all the participants)
These fees cover teaching of classes and all additional editing/mastering required to produce the finished article and up
to 20 copies for the participants.
All projects quoted individually for requirements.
